When choosing its Charitable Partners, the Leon Foundation uses the following metric in order to better assess whether a given organization is a suitable candidate for partnership and/or funding from the Foundation:

Part 1:
Charity’s Mission Alignment (25 Points)
1. Clarity of Mission:
A. Organization has a concise and clear mission statement (0-10 points)
B. Direct correlation with the charity’s objectives (0-15 points)
Part 2:
Organizational Transparency (30 Points)
1. Financial Clarity:
A. Availability of clear financial statements (0-10 points)
B. Annual independent audit performed (0-10 points)
C. Accessibility of 990 tax form to the public (0-10 points)
2. Reporting on Impact:
A. Annual report on impact distributed to the general public (0-10 points)
B. Well-defined success metrics (0-10 points)
Part 3:
Program Effectiveness (30 Points)
1. Demonstrated Impact:
A. Evidence of successful past programs (0-15 points)
B. Availability of positive testimonials or case studies (0-15 points)
2. Innovation:
A. Distinctive approach to addressing the charity’s stated goals and the community’s challenges (0-10 points)
Part 4:
Community Engagement (15 Points)
1. Involvement of Stakeholders:
A. Active participation with beneficiaries (0-10 points)
B. Partnerships and collaborative efforts with other organizations (0-5 points)
Scoring Recommendations:
Score: 70-100 points:
Highly qualified. Immediate consideration for funding.
Score: 50-69 points:
Moderately qualified. Further evaluation or potential funding opportunities.
Score: 30-49 points:
Improvement needed prior to final consideration for any Foubdation funding. Consider acquiring additional information or follow-up.
Score: 0-29 points:
Does not currently qualify for Foundation funding.
